All We Need Is Love

There is something special about photographing couples that are really in love.  You catch their meaningful glances and gazes.  It really is such an honor to be a part of that experience.  This family was no exception.  They were casual and playful with one another and we had a great time walking around five points together.   Don’t miss big brother’s karate moves in that last picture…he was a riot!

Color my world

With any color. As long as it’s bright, and fun, and makes me happy:)That is what this family does to me! They make me smile every second I am with them. And, as you can see, they make their mama pretty happy too. I just can’t get enough of them or the pure energy they have. Thanks Mom for a FABULOUS afternoon! I love you guys;)

Tiny… but WALKING

Okay, this tiny tiny little girl is walking. I mean, I turned around and there she is in her skinny jeans and three inches long shoes and she’s just strolling around! Not. Allowed! I mean, really. No way. This family and I had a fun time bumming around the studio for this session!

And we all fall down…

Ok, not all of us. Just me. Thankfully at the END of the session.

Man, we were 30 minutes in to a FANTASTIC family session, so fantastic, that we were done with the kids, one last wide angle shot, and then we were gonna photograph just mom and dad together. This would have been a first, because usually by the time we are done with this crew mom and dad are WAY too spent for photos of the two of them LOL!

Anyhow, I stepped down off the sidewalk (a good 3 foot drop) for the 4th time during the session and hit a nice soggy wet patch of grass/dirt and turned my ankle. It was awesome. Really awesome. Only not:|

Look, I’ve just made this post about me. Not their photos. But, oh well….I’m pretty much a part of their family, so, by default, this post is at least about their family;)

Through the eyes of a child…

That’s how I try to approach all my sessions with kids, from their perspective! Really, what kid wants to hang out with some grown up and be told what to do? Heck, I’m not a kid and there are even times *I* don’t want to do that;)

So, the best way to put them at ease is to just be their friend. You can play and have a good time with them while still capturing their wonderful expressions. Of course, you have to be willing to make yourself look a little silly to the other adults around, but secretly, I am always dying for an excuse to be silly!

These two brothers came by the studio with their mom and dad this morning to hang out and play. And that’s exactly what we did! Did you know that elephants and bears could fly? Did you also know that  you can play a game that is a wonderful mix of “red light, green light” and “freeze tag” and get amazing smiles? I think the best game all day was making an elephant jump out of the soft box;)

I hope mom and dad had as much fun as I did hanging out this morning. For two hours I got to pretty much forget about my torn abdominal muscle and just be a kid again. Great way to start a Wednesday if you ask me. Well, that and a pain pill ;)
