Really, what kid wants to hang out with some grown up and be told what to do? Heck, I’m not a kid and there are even times *I* don’t want to do that ;)

So, the best way to put them at ease is to just be their friend. You can play and have a good time with them while still capturing their wonderful expressions. Of course, you have to be willing to make yourself look a little silly to the other adults around, but secretly, I am always dying for an excuse to be silly!

These two brothers came by the studio with their mom and dad this morning to hang out and play. And that’s exactly what we did! Did you know that elephants and bears could fly? Did you also know that  you can play a game that is a wonderful mix of “red light, green light” and “freeze tag” and get amazing smiles? I think the best game all day was making an elephant jump out of the soft box ;)

I hope mom and dad had as much fun as I did hanging out this morning. For two hours I got to pretty much forget about my torn abdominal muscle and just be a kid again. Great way to start a Wednesday if you ask me. Well, that and a pain pill  ;)

I sure got my dose of new baby love because my arms are sore today from all the holding and bouncing! I’m in total love with big sisters eyes too, all green and blue, wow! Big brother was confused as to why he was there, but talking about how stinky new sister is made him smile a little.

They were in last Christmas for a session for their big little man last Novemeber. When mom came to pick up her order, she had found out they were expecting this baby! Exciting stuff I tell ya! Mom gets to remain the sole princess of the house! This time around mom and dad chose to do the Belly to Baby plan and the Tales From the Crib! Stay tuned for baby’s newborn session in a few weeks!!!

Family of four, four minute apart contractions. Yea, all about 4. All throughout the session mom was hanging in there with some ferocious contractions! Having been on bed rest for FOREVER, this was her first day back on her feet! She had finally made it far enough that going into labor was no longer risky. And so, of course, having your photos done is the way to spend your day! I am not gonna lie….I was sitting there WAITING for her water to break. It would have been just our luck! The bummer for mom is……no water broke, and baby boy is STILL all comfy cozy on the inside! He’s just setting the stage for what he’ll be like as a toddler….everything on HIS terms :)

This session was so wonderful, one of those rare newborn sessions that the baby neither wakes up or wets on anything. I think I get a no-wet/no-wake baby maybe once a year, if I’m lucky. :P This session was done in our studio!

He’s all sly grins and flirty smiles until a stranger picks him up, then the world is coming to an end. I do love this family though, and I love being able to slowly watch him grown enough to fill up that cowboy hat. When this family and I met up at the Botanical Gardens for this sweetie’s standing session, it was so so nasty out! Poor girl was just so done with us before we even started, but she perked up when we got the chair out for her to stand up with help. She’s a Tales From the Crib baby graduate now, and you can see her sitting up,  heads up session and her newborn session!

It’s always wonderful to get to see them grown up, but it’s always so strange to realize that I won’t have to call them for another session in another 4 months! She’s the baby on the cover of this year’s Athens BABY magazine!
