You are my sunshine, my only sunshine

And we sang it over….and over….and over again:)

But it was worth it to get these gorgeous baby photos! My favorite part is that the dress in the first two photos was mama’s when she was a baby! We won’t talk about how long ago that was, now will we;)

As you scroll you’ll see her change from vintage baby to modern baby. It’s one of the many reasons I love shooting at the studio….so many looks all in one location:)

I’m gonna watch you shine, gonna watch you grow.

And that’s just what we’ve gotten to do with this little beauty! Amazingly, she hasn’t changed much at all in her first year! As a Tales From the Crib baby planner we’ve seen her through each of her milestones during her first year! What a joy it has been! Her eyes have remained a stunning blue, and her grin is a little more toothy now;)Happy birthday baby G!!!

Soggy but fun

This little man had a very soggy session at the gardens! At 8am, everything was still sopping wet in dew. Our shoes were sloshing and my pants cuff took hours to dry. Poor guy didn’t want to walk it in it, and I don’t blame him!!

How I love my job!

These two girls (you may recognize them from last year when they both came in with their sister, Ava Jane) make me laugh so hard. So, we went out to the Botanical Garden on Sunday the 1st, but it was grey and dreary, then rained on us, and then my camera ran out of batteries right on the last shot I needed, so they came back out yesterday to finish up. It was grey and nasty the whole day except for that one little 45 minute section of sun we got last night when we were out there. We finished up the night at Marble Slab getting birthday cake ice cream ON my birthday. In fact, I think I may have turned 31 years old while we were sitting there. What a fantastic night!

With arms wide open, under the sunlight, welcome to this place…

Really, one of the most flattering compliments someone can make to our work is to drive 5 hours just to see us! And that’s exactly what these folks did! Now, they drove more than that really, from Florida, to South Carolina, and then to us. But whatever;)

I have no doubt that this baby will come into this world well loved. We had a great time at the studio Saturday morning during this shoot! Not only did we photograph them, but we were even able to squeeze in a hair cut for Dad over at Honey’s Salon! He came wearing a hat….I just couldn’t have him shirtless, holding Mom’s beautiful belly….in a hat:|But, it all turned out OK. Thanks so much to my girl Stephanie at Honey’s!!!

I can’t wait to meet “the baby!” Then it’s my turn to drive 5 hours for a little newborn fun!

Little boy, very blue

Okay, where on earth did those curls come from?!? His 7 month session and his 4 month session didn’t have those and of course his newborn session didn’t either!! We met up this morning for his session at Ashford Manor in Watkinsville. Have you ever been there? I hadn’t, and holy cow, I wish I had earlier! I can tell you, I’ve already looked at booking that location for my own wedding (eventually) and I plan on calling them up and begging them to the able to shoot some princesses there. It’s just begging for some little girls. That john-john from Southern Belles and Beaus is cute though! OH, and how is he ONE already? ::sniff sniff::

We then went quick quick over to her parent’s house just down the road because I wanted to do some sudsy baby shots and her mother had a washtub we could use! Well, no one notified this poor guy that he’d been signed up for this, and he was NOT happy with it at all. He went from unsure to VERY MAD in about 2.5 seconds. Poor thing. Cuddles from daddy fixed everything though, and he was down for a nap before I even got out of the driveway.

Through the eyes of a child…

That’s how I try to approach all my sessions with kids, from their perspective! Really, what kid wants to hang out with some grown up and be told what to do? Heck, I’m not a kid and there are even times *I* don’t want to do that;)

So, the best way to put them at ease is to just be their friend. You can play and have a good time with them while still capturing their wonderful expressions. Of course, you have to be willing to make yourself look a little silly to the other adults around, but secretly, I am always dying for an excuse to be silly!

These two brothers came by the studio with their mom and dad this morning to hang out and play. And that’s exactly what we did! Did you know that elephants and bears could fly? Did you also know that  you can play a game that is a wonderful mix of “red light, green light” and “freeze tag” and get amazing smiles? I think the best game all day was making an elephant jump out of the soft box;)

I hope mom and dad had as much fun as I did hanging out this morning. For two hours I got to pretty much forget about my torn abdominal muscle and just be a kid again. Great way to start a Wednesday if you ask me. Well, that and a pain pill ;)

8 days new

This little sweetie came into the studio yesterday! I sure got my dose of new baby love because my arms are sore today from all the holding and bouncing! I’m in total love with big sisters eyes too, all green and blue, wow! Big brother was confused as to why he was there, but talking about how stinky new sister is made him smile a little.
