The furniture fiasco on Friday the 13th

Normally I don’t put much stock in Friday the 13th. I don’t care, refuse the believe in it, nothing. I think I might have to pay attention in the future now. So, one of the mothers who wanted some furniture photos at her place said “Oh, I’m a member of this local flea-market type thing, we can borrow some of their furniture if we want to!”
So I go and pick out this wonderful burgundy couch and matching chair as well as a tall striped orange chair. I’m totally stoked. The woman with the couch tells us time and time again “It’s fragile, so you have to be really careful with it!” No big deal. So we load it up on the truck and haul it out to this beautiful lakefront scene. I shoot the photos I wanted and pick it up to move it since it’s light. I set it CAREFULLY down in the leaves a few feet away and….. *crunch*.. both front legs break off. Oh dear lord, I have just broken a borrowed couch. I calm myself and go back to work shooting because the chair is still fine. I’m convinced the couch can be fixed.
Get the couch back on the truck and go back to the house where we shoot with the orange chair that was also for sale and borrowed for photos. I leave it in the yard and see about the couch while we still have light. One leg can be fixed fine, no issue. The other one, the dowel holding the leg on is totally shot and cannot be fixed. So, since the couch was already on sale, I just bought myself a couch and matching chair set for $350. Not what I really wanted to do this weekend. Go home. It POURS overnight.
Mom who borrowed couch and chairs with me calls Saturday morning to tell me that she talked the lady selling couch down to $225. Thank goodness. Then she tells me that we left the orange chair out overnight. In the rain. So, we may have also bought a second chair. This is just NOT my day, but the photos are worth it.

I am so done hauling furniture outside though, I’ll tell you that.

I’m in love

I passed these girls with their parents in the Athens Target a month or so ago. I gathered my courage and flagged them down and rushingly explained that I’m a photographer and the girls were gorgeous and could I please photograph them? The girls listened so well and have gotten prettier since I saw them last if anything. Plus, they’re smart, and everyone knows being smart is better than being pretty. Taken at the Athens Botanical Gardens as usual.

Miss C at the Gardens

As I was editing this session it occurred to me that it’s probably the last Fairytales session of the year. I do have a few warm dresses, but unless it snow it’ll be dead and brown outside, not vary pretty. I was quite disappointed that I probably won;t get to play dress-up again until March.

Anyway, this girl was such a sweetheart. Certainly a great way to end the season. She had a great deal of patience with me because I kept calling her and her mommy the wrong names. I fell in love with the look on her face in this first one. It was so surprising at the time because she didn’t look at me so much as THROUGH me.

Miss Z’s Fairytale

This girl was so funny. She was a wonderful pretender. All on her own, she pretended to go to sleep, then proceeded to ‘wake up’ as a fairy in the ‘human world’. To get a few good laughs out of her I made a few (okay, a lot) of poot noises, so she decided that I had to be the wingless poot fairy.

Twins 2

More of these girls. I can’t wait to get these in so I can show their mommy! PS: I swear she’s not picking her nose, she’s thinking really hard about the frog she’s watching.
