Through the eyes of a child…

That’s how I try to approach all my sessions with kids, from their perspective! Really, what kid wants to hang out with some grown up and be told what to do? Heck, I’m not a kid and there are even times *I* don’t want to do that

So, the best way to put them at ease is to just be their friend. You can play and have a good time with them while still capturing their wonderful expressions. Of course, you have to be willing to make yourself look a little silly to the other adults around, but secretly, I am always dying for an excuse to be silly!

These two brothers came by the studio with their mom and dad this morning to hang out and play. And that’s exactly what we did! Did you know that elephants and bears could fly? Did you also know that you can play a game that is a wonderful mix of “red light, green light” and “freeze tag” and get amazing smiles? I think the best game all day was making an elephant jump out of the soft box

I hope mom and dad had as much fun as I did hanging out this morning. For two hours I got to pretty much forget about my torn abdominal muscle and just be a kid again. Great way to start a Wednesday if you ask me. Well, that and a pain pill

She’s back and cuter than ever!

Seriously, I haven’t seen this girl in 7 months and she turns into a totally different little girl! She’s walking, talking and she’s blonde! I mean, how did that happen?? This little girl makes me want to have maaaybe one of my own. Check out her 12 months, 8 months and her 4 months sessions!

Less chub, more hair!

You might remember this boy as my sock monkey kid last year. He’s back! He’s got a bit more hair and a little less chunk, but his face is still pretty similar to what it was then. I loved this whole session, but my throat hurt at the end of it because of him. Mom said “Oh, and he thinks it’s hilarious when you roar at him like a dinosaur.” So, I spent the whole session going “Hey, guess what? RAWR!!!!” at him.

Urban Cuteness

This little guy’s mom wanted to do an urban session for his two year pictures, and they were all done outside of the studio. His outfits were perfect for this type of session, from the hat to the sunglasses to the tie! Total cuteness!

It’s a colorful world

Let me just tell you how much I LOVE this family. They’re From the Crib plan graduate as of this session and I love to see how she’s changed over the year. They’re both really into vintage, so I was excited about the tree they had. White and decorated in 50’s style glass ornaments, plus it was in a bright orange room. LOVE IT!! Here she is at 8 months and 4 months.
