This girl is quite the charmer, and right up my alley. Silly and yet sweet, wild and still has calm moments. Her session was fab and I can’t wait to see this family again!

Congratulations go out to the Reese family! This very big fellow was born 1:45am weighing in at 10lbs 6 oz.. but here’s the kicker.. he was born on Jan 1, making him the very first baby born in Athens Clarke County for 2012! He was the perfect baby for me at the studio. He woke up once in 45 minutes to look around and be fed, but that was it. Even big sister (whose name is Rhielle, how pretty is that?!?) was super sweet and did everything we asked. Thank goodness the session was fast too, or I think my arms would have fallen off holding this guy up. His daddy says “He’s meaty.”

It’s that time of year again!!!
We wait all year long to pull our favorite images from each client throughout the year to unveil them to you all! If you had more than one session with us, we just picked our favorite one. That way each person has just one to vote on. If we missed you, please let us know! Though we have personal favorites, it is always nice to see what your favorites are too!
This year, you’ve asked and we’ve listened. You want the online/FB option to vote, so here it is! All you need to do is LIKE your favorite photos in the Best of 2011 album. Yes, seriously, it’s that easy. You have the opportunity to vote for any and all images that you like!
We understand that there may be some people in your lives that are not on Facebook, and therefore cannot vote. For this, we apologize, but just think….you’ve got an abundance of FRIENDS on Facebook to more than make up for the handful of potential voters that are not.
We will not be accepting any votes by email, phone or messaging, only LIKES will be counted. Again, sorry if some of your potential voters aren’t one of the 800+ million users of Facebook. But just think of how many more people will get to tell us your photo is the jam![]()
This year, we are throwing in our own twist! Instead of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, we are giving the top three photos with most “LIKES” their choice of prize!
The top three photos with the most LIKES will receive their choice of:
A) 16×20 canvas
B) Any one jewelry piece
C) an 8×8 session album of their session
Now, please remember that comments are lovely, we LOVE to hear what you all have to say, but this contest will be gauged by LIKES ONLY. No counting involved here people, you just have to look at the number with the “thumbs up”. This is simply for ease of tallying on our part.
Happy LIKING my friends, happy LIKING! Votes will be counted on Thursday Jan 19th!

I love that this year’s first session is a newborn! She was born about a month early right before Christmas, so she had quite the NICU stay before she was able to come in. Older brother just loves her to bits. LOVES her. She was tough to get to sleep because she just wanted to not miss a thing, but we finally got the best of her tired sleepy self. Daddy’s a firefighter right up the road at the Five Points fire station too!

Shared from another photographer’s page. If you haven’t already resolved to be IN more pictures of your kids, do it and do it now. Snapshots, self portraits, pro pictures or less than pro pictures. You are not too fat, you do not need to go put on your makeup, and you don’t need to go change your clothes. You might not get another chance. We are so blessed to be doing what we love and creating real memories that will last lifetimes.
A portrait is more than paper: http://
“… On Sunday I called and cancelled our session. Monday I went out and got my hair cut ($39+tip), and colored ($65), Thursday I had my nails done ($24), my family went out to dinner at a somewhat expensive restaurant for no particular reason costing us $79 + tip. This was just 4 days since canceling our session, already totaling over $200 for un necessary things. My nails only lasted about 2 weeks, my hair is gone, and seven weeks passed when I got the phone call from our doctor. It was not something I expected and the cancer has spread very quickly. I will be leaving my husband, my 6 year old girl and my now 2 year old – not by choice. It is very hard for me to talk about it which is why I need to write you.
I watch your Facebook page and your posts about the value of a photo and if I could give back all of those things that I purchased this few weeks after I cancelled my session with you, knowing what I know now, and have that session, well… I would do it in a heartbeat.
Now my time is done and there are no more chances for me. The next time someone cancels a session – my wish is that you forward this letter to them. Time is fragile, it is gone before you know you had it. If you charged $200 for one print it wouldn’t be enough for what it is actually worth. I cringe to think that my priorities were a manicure over a memory to pass onto my babies and husband….”
Welcome home, baby boy! I feel like it was just yesterday when I was at this family’s home welcoming their first for her newborn pictures. This fellow had a good two pounds on his sister, but he has the same eyes and the same dislike of being asleep. Bet you can’t add ‘Helping shave newborn’s head for Mohawk’ to your resume’ though… I can now. Baby boy had to have part of his head clippered at the hospital for an IV in the NICU. I told them they should go ahead and hit both sides and give him a real Mohawk. Dad was like “Yeah, it’s going to grow back in all funky if we don’t..” and mom was like “I’m game as long as it’s not a high-and-tight.” Sooo, yeah. I helped give a baby a Mohawk yesterday.. I’ve heard that his grandmother was not a fan of it.
We did a few of him pre-clipper though, just for her.
